Ceramic hand painted tiles are not just limited to decoration for kitchens and bathrooms. Handpainted tiles are particularly appropriate as a surface for mural and trompe l'oeil effects in those areas where atmospheric conditions would be unkind to traditional painting such as fireplace tile surrounds, swimming pools or saunas.

Tile murals are a style of decoration typified by the work of artist ceramic tile artist Sally Anderson (now retired) and are fabulously effective around swimming pools inside or out.
